Marienlyst castle; Introducing Jute & Wool
Cappelen Dimyr is proud to present our new designs in jute and wool in our latest editorial. In a creative collaboration between Artilleriet and Cappelen Dimyr, we have curated interiors within the historic Marienlyst Castle, a former Danish royal summer retreat located north of Copenhagen. This project celebrates the harmonious interplay between old and new, blending contemporary pieces with a timeless setting.
From artisanal furniture and rugs to carefully selected accents, each piece exudes a contemporary yet classic allure.
Our two new styles, now available online, are flat-woven, handmade rugs crafted from natural materials. They combine natural jute with light, unbleached New Zealand wool, bringing a distinctive touch to the rugs’ timeless designs. A thin fringe along the short edges adds a subtle yet striking detail.
no.22 is a light, flat-woven, handmade rug featuring a natural jute foundation adorned with a graphical floral motif in white natural wool. The rug combines hard and soft elements through contrasting patterns.
no.23 features a checkered pattern that combines natural jute with slub yarn in white, natural wool. The contrast between the jute and slub yarn gives the rug a dimensional look and feel, enhancing its classic, timeless design.
Each piece has been carefully curated to blend seamlessly with the Marienlyst Castle interiors. The castle's distinctive features highlight craftsmanship of the highest quality, executed by the country's most prominent royal court painters, stucco artists, sculptors, woodcarvers, gilders, and stonemasons.
Cappelen Dimyr’s classic rug, no.02, forms the foundation in the dining room with its irregular pattern, creating a vivid and intriguing ambiance. The room is completed with the Hommage Oblong Dining Table, a collaborative creation by Matti Carlson and Artilleriet.
